This week for our series of interviews with inspiring leaders we had a pleasure of interviewing, ,Stefano Quaglia, founder of PKF TCL Group and Premium Member of Leaders First.
Stefano is a professional with a wide experience in tax and corporate matters, business strategy, wealth management and family business, working as a Consultant for the Courts of Genoa and Savona.
He set up the Deloitte Tax and Legal office in Genoa in 1999 and then joined PKF family.
Stefano graduated from the University of Genoa in Economics, Business and Administration and holds a postgraduate master degree as Family Officer.
He is also a member of the tax and legal Committee of AIFI (Italian Private Equity and Venture Capital Association), where PKF Studio TCL is associated.
We had the privilege of asking Stefano to share the insights behind his career path of over 20 years.
Stefano, please briefly describe your company:

PKF Studio TCL – Tax Consulting Legal is a professional firm whose members include Chartered Accountants, Auditors, and Lawyers working in the field of tax, corporate and civil law both in Italy and abroad since 1983 and it is a member of PKF International Limited.
The Firm relies on specialized professionals with strong experience in tax law, Tax compliance, tax disputes, bankruptcy law, business restructuring, ITA, IFRS and US GAAP, corporate/commercial law and labor law and experts in the business and financial management.
PKF – TCL Square Srl provides high specialized services for all advisory activities (Due Diligence, business valuations, M&A, restructuring plans, corporate finance) and outsourcing services (managerial, administrative, accounting, financial, payroll and staff management) with the support of specialized companies; offers also multi-client family office services and customer support in the acquisition, valorization and sale of real estate, business and companies.
PKF – TCL Services srl is specialized in accounting, bookkeeping, tax payroll and HR services and provides a wide range of activities with many offices such as the Chamber of Commerce, Courts, Customs and Duty, cadastral office, and tax and administration office.
Could you tell us the story of how you built your company?
I built it starting from the vision of the future perspective of the sector for which I have studied, always proposing long and medium-term strategies.
I have planned time to time the process to reach the objectives and over the years I have always tried not to lose the business vision and plan specific events to correct the strategy and the related activities
Why did you choose to set up your business in this sector?
I choose to set up my business in Tax and Wealth management sectors as a natural evolution of my educational background: that gave me the opportunity to develop the business not only as a simple professional but like a company and teams developer. Expertise is supported by an entrepreneurial mentality.
If you could do something differently about learning skills in your earlier career what would it be?
In the first year of working, coaching and training the learning skill did not exist (or I did not know them); but obviously these leadership training services would have been useful to accelerate my entrepreneurial capacity and growth
Where do you see yourself and your company in 10 years’ time?
In ten years I would like to see my company fully realized and independent from the people who are part of it, with the aim of increasing the value and the benefit of current and future members
What does success look like to you?
Success looks like to create an autonomous, independent and enhanced company, which can also have a social impact. Every step in the growth or consolidation of the company can be considered a little success. The final success is the achievement of an almost impossible goal.
How important it is for you to have a trusted business network and access to continuous learning?
In my experience I can confirm the crucial importance of being part of a business network especially if the members share the same goals as yours
Why did you decide to join Leaders First?
I decided to join Leaders First because I have met other members with my same goals with the chance to extend our knowledge and social and working cooperation.
What advice do you have for any young entrepreneur looking to start their own business?
In my opinion, a young entrepreneur must invest in what he/she wants to achieve, with the support of the professional / teacher supervisor that can help him/her to make their learning time shorter.
What are your hobbies outside of work?
In my youth, I used to be athletic: I used to compete in different sports, in particular skiing, tennis and football; I spend a lot of time with my family, considering I have 4 sons.
