Michaela was born in Rome on 7 September 1970.

She was appointed Chairperson of Acea on 21 June 2018. 

Michaela has a Degree in Law and specialization course in financial law from Università Commerciale Luigi Bocconi of Milan.

She has experience working with major legal firms in Italy, dealing with corporate and financial markets law. She worked for the Italian Stock Exchange for 9 years, where she dealt with assisting, in close collaboration with the supervisory authority (CONSOB), quoted issuers on matters concerning extraordinary operations, price-sensitive information, compliance and corporate governance.

Castelli was also secretary of the scientific committee dealing with the updating of the Code of Self-Governance of quoted companies and responsible for the legal listing department entrusted with procedures for the admission and quotation of shares and other financial instruments, with proxies for delicate procedures. Was involved in consultation procedures on the sector regulations and the preparation of corporate procedures for the functioning of market management companies, supervised by CONSOB.

She is an expert in corporate organization and compliance, internal audits and 231 regulations.

Michaela is a consultant and member of the Boards of Directors of quoted companies, standing auditor on Boards of Auditors and member of numerous supervisory boards.

Michaela is also author of sector publications and lecturer on various continuous education courses on corporate and financial markets law; participated in numerous conferences as a speaker.

Michaela Castelli is currently the Chairperson of Sea S.p.A. and she is a member in Recordati SpA, La Doria SpA, Stefanel SpA, Autogrill Italia SpA and Teva Srl.
